The Motivational Interviewing (MI) in Chronic Disease Management workshop aims to equip healthcare professionals with essential skills and techniques to effectively engage patients in their chronic disease management journey. By employing patient-centred communication strategies, participants will learn how to empower patients to take an active role in their self-care, leading to improved treatment adherence and better long-term health outcomes.
Health coaching is a personalised approach that supports individuals in achieving their health goals through behaviour change and self-management. Health coaches employ Motivational Interviewing (MI) to enhance patient care for chronic disease management. MI involves collaborative conversations that encourage patients to explore their motivations for positive change. By being part of the medical team, health coaches use MI to help patients address ambivalence, assess their readiness for change, and establish realistic goals. This integrated approach empowers patients and contributes to more effective long-term management of chronic conditions.
Motivational Interviewing (MI) is an evidence-based, patient-centered, collaborative approach to communication and counselling that aims to elicit and strengthen an individual's intrinsic motivation to change behavior.
The workshop is highly interactive, engaging participants in practical exercises and discussions to reinforce their learning.
By the end of the workshop, participants will feel confident in using Motivational Interviewing to empower their patients for successful self-care in chronic disease management. They will be equipped with valuable tools to enhance patient engagement, improve treatment adherence, and ultimately, make a positive impact on patients' lives.
